Opel with New Business Model in Greece
- Syngelidis appointed as import partner
- More agility and flexibility will foster growth
- Another important step in the implementation of PACE! plan
Rüsselsheim. Opel is further developing its business strategy in selected European markets to become more agile, flexible and efficient as outlined in the PACE! strategic plan. In a further step to foster growth, the company will run the business in Greece through the highly recognised and successful Syngelidis family who will take over the current Opel Hellas organization and then become the independent import partner in the future.
A respective contract has now been signed. The National Sales Company of Opel will be acquired by members of Syngelidis family. The Opel staff in Greece will continue to be employed by the current company but under the new ownership. This transaction has yet to be approved according to applicable laws.
“In line with the goals of our PACE! strategic plan this is another decision which will make our sales set-up more agile, efficient and therefore competitive,” said Xavier Duchemin, Managing Director Sales, Aftersales and Marketing of Opel/Vauxhall. “Syngelidis is already a strong and experienced partner in Greece for our sister brands Peugeot, Citroën and DS Automobiles and will help us to further improve our market position and profitability in the market.”
Syngelidis has been responsible for the sales of Citroën since 1965, Peugeot since 2014 and DS Automobiles since 2018.
In 2018 Opel achieved a market share of 6.46% with 7142 vehicles sold in Greece. Thanks to the new organizational set-up, the tradition-rich German brand wants to grow successfully in the country in the coming years.
